The TwonkyServer is a UPnP compatible mediaserver that runs on the QNAP-219 (Kirkwood processor) with Debian. TwonkyServer automatically scans the folders configured for sharing, and supports streaming of the media using the UPnP protocol. The media is automatically discovered and become available on the players (i.e. Pinell Supersound II).

Our home PC, an AMD64 with 8Gb, now has Windows 7 Home Edition installed to become our Media Center. At first the installation from DVD did not seem to start properly, but did after the Virtualisation option is disabled in the BIOS. After the problems to start the installer the installation is very smooth. 
QNAP provides a NAS with Marvel Kirkwood processor supported by Debian ARM distribution (kernel 2.6.30). The NAS comes without a HDD, and is perfectly designed for a single SATA disk. I added a Western Digital 1TB SATA disk.
